Cookie Policy

Cookies, honestly.

What we use, why, and what's in your control. Short because this site is deliberately kept light on tracking.

Back to home

A "cookie" is a small text file a website stores on your device. Some are strictly necessary. Some are used for analytics, advertising, or personalisation. We use the minimum we can get away with - and before any non-essential cookies are set, we ask.

As of today This pre-launch site uses only strictly necessary cookies (plus fonts loaded from Google's CDN, which sets no tracking cookies in this mode). No analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking. If that changes before Draw One opens, we will update this page and show a consent banner the first time you visit.
  1. What counts as a cookie

"Cookie" is shorthand for a group of similar technologies - HTTP cookies, local storage, session storage, pixel tags, and similar. This policy covers all of them.

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we need your consent before setting any cookie that isn't strictly necessary to deliver the service you've asked for.

  2. What we currently use

Name / purpose Type Duration Who sets it
Session state (keeps your navigation consistent between pages) Strictly necessary Session only Netlify (our host)
Security token (used to protect forms from abuse) Strictly necessary Session only Netlify

Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the PECR consent requirement because the website cannot function without them. We don't ask you to consent to these for the same reason we don't ask you to consent to the page loading.

  3. What we will add before launch

When Draw One opens on 1 June 2026, we expect to add:

    • A payment processor's cookies (strictly necessary during checkout, to prevent fraud and complete the transaction);
    • A single privacy-respecting analytics tool (for example, Plausible or Fathom) to understand site traffic in aggregate. This will only be loaded if you give consent via the banner.

We will not add advertising trackers, Meta pixel, Google Ads tags, or similar third-party profiling cookies. If that position ever changes, it will be clearly announced, and consent sought.

  4. Fonts and other assets

This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Google Fonts, when used as we use it (via a link in the page), does not set tracking cookies. It does, however, log the IP address making the request - Google's own documentation sets out their standard practice for this. If you'd rather avoid that entirely, most browsers allow you to block third-party font loading, and the site will still be readable in your system default font.

We also load one JavaScript library (D3, used to render the globe on the homepage) from a CDN. That sets no cookies.

  5. Your control

You can manage cookies directly in your browser settings. All major browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies - either globally, or on a per-site basis. Instructions:

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working correctly - in particular, any part of the site that takes payments. Blocking non-essential cookies (once we add any) will not affect your ability to enter the draw or read any part of the site.

  6. Changes to this policy

If we change what cookies we use, we'll update this page and - where required - ask for your consent again. Check the "last updated" date below to see the current version.

  7. Questions
